Privacy Policy

This Card Sorting Task ("we", "us") is operated by Alpine Lake Systems LLC. This policy explains what information is collected when you take the task at t1.alpinelake.systems.
What we collect
When you take the task, we record:
- The participant code you choose and type in yourself
- Your responses on each trial and which card you selected
- How long each response took (reaction times) and the start and end time of your session
- Basic technical information your browser sends with each request, such as browser and device type
We do not ask for, and do not collect, your name, email address, payment information, or any other directly identifying information. The participant code is whatever you decide to enter; please do not enter information that personally identifies you.
Cookies
We store one functional cookie in your browser when you finish the task. Its only purpose is to record that the task has been completed on this device, so it is not taken more than once. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.
How the data is used
Responses are used solely for research and analysis of performance on this task. Results are not shown to you, and they are reviewed only by the study operator through a sign-in-protected administration page.
Third parties
The administration page (used only by the study operator, not by participants) uses Google Sign-In to verify the operator's identity. Participants never sign in and no participant data is shared with Google. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics services, and we do not sell data.
Data retention and security
Session records are stored in our cloud database for as long as needed for the research, and access is restricted to the study operator.
Your choices
Taking the task is voluntary. If you would like your session removed, contact us at matt@alpinelake.systems with the participant code you used.
Changes
We may update this policy. Changes take effect when posted on this page.
